Dallas TX Water Removal Process

Whenever you are dealing with water damage, the main idea is always the same, remove the water and dry everything out completely.  The basic concept in the whole operation is “dry”…everything must be dried out in order to avoid additionalhousepic.jpg problems later on.  Whether the problem is big or small, the same basic tenets apply.

Water damage repair operations should ideally begin immediately following the initial problem.  Locating the source of the water will not only allow you to shut it off, but also determine what kind of water you are dealing with, if contaminants are a concern, etc.

Be sure to shut off all electricity and gas to the home.  This should be done even if power is out.  You want to be able to control when it comes back on, preferably after the water is removed.

Take all loose items such as furniture, appliances, etc and move them elsewhere, and remember to always wear protective clothing when working in and around flood waters.  Waterproof boots, rubber gloves, and eye wear are must haves.4aa14fe9c6f3ef6ec834bb187.jpg

The water will need to be removed from the damaged area.  This is done through the use of shop-vacs or submersible pumps, depending on the depth of the spill.  Most of the water can be removed through this process.

At this point, surfaces may appear dry, but will still be wet to the touch.  Secondary drying is accomplished by circulating as much air as possible.  Open all windows and doors, and bring in high velocity fans, blowers, and dehumidifiers to help the process along.  Drying may take a day or two to complete.
