Basement water removal begins with finding the source of the water and shutting it off, or blocking it, or plugging it, or whatever.  You should also shut off all utilities to the basement, even if the power is off.  Water and electricity do not mix, and you don’t want to try and prove the point for anyone.

Remove all loose items to higher ground.  They can be cleaned and repaired elsewhere without inhibiting other repair efforts. 

Pump out the excess water, slowly.  Pumping out too fast can actually cause walls to weaken and collapse.  Use fans and blowers to circulate air and complete the drying process.  A digital moisture meter can tell you when humidity levels are back to normal.
